Ramona and Beezus
A Little Sister Goes a Long Way
Teen sensation Selena Gomez (“Hannah Montana,” “Wizards of Waverly Place”) teams up with newcomer Joey King in this delightful coming-of-age comedy based on the best-selling books by Beverly Cleary. Ramona (King) is a little girl with a very big imagination and a nose for mischief. Her playful antics keep everyone in her loving family on their toes, including her older sister Beezus (Gomez), who's just trying to survive her first year of high school. Through all the ups and downs of childhood, Ramona and Beezus learn that anything’s possible when you believe in yourself and rely on each other.

I love this movie. Love it. I adored all of the Ramona books (by Beverly Cleary) when I was growing up and I think they did an excellent job of capturing the spirit of Ramona in this film! It make me laugh. It made me cry. I really did love it. And yes, at least part of that has to be because of my affinity for the books... but I think the movie is fun in its own right too. Ramona and Beezus would make an excellent movie for the whole family.
They picked the perfect actors for the parts too. Sandra Oh is fabulous as Ramona's teacher. It was fun watching the ER-star play a completely different role. I loved watching the extra "My Ramona with author Beverly Cleary". It was really cool to hear the author's perspective.
And the best part? Olivia loves the movie too so I get to pass my love of Ramona on to my daughter :).
Thanks so much to Fox Home Entertainment for sending me a review copy of this DVD!
